We are a fully self-check-in and check-out property. Check-in is anytime after 3:00 pm and Check-Out is at 10:00 am.

Our on-site boat dock offers a 10x66 swim platform for our guests to use during their stay. Additionally, with a daily fee of $25 you can rent a 12x30 boat slip and for a daily fee of $15 you can rent a jet ski dock


There is a public boat launch located only 1.6 miles from the resort. There is parking on the property for your boat trailer during your stay


Your cottage will be freshly prepared for your stay. We do not offer daily cleaning services or restocking of items provided.

All units, except the Glampling Tents, have washer and dryers 


Most of the cottages offer limited WiFi. We say limited because it is the lake and we do not guarantee Wifi.

Each cottage is equipped with a kitchen/kitchenette and a park style outdoor charcoal grill. There is also a community picnic table area.

  • What are the details for Check-In?
    Our check-in time is anytime after 3:00 pm. Because we are a self-check-in and self-check-out resort we are not staffed to coordinate and manage early arrivals or late departures. When you arrive, go directly to your cottage, but PLEASE DO NOT enter the cottage before 3:00 pm. Before your arrival, you will receive details via email for your check-in. These instructions will include the code for the door and the address of your cottage. If for some reason, the digital lock does not work, there is a lockbox with a key. Please make sure you receive this email prior to arriving at the resort.
  • What are the details for Check-out?
    Our check-out time is 10:00 am. We cannot accommodate a late check-out as our cleaning team needs access to prepare the cottage for the next guest. Thank you for honoring this check-out time. Check-out details will be included in your pre-arrival email. During your stay, and upon departure, please dispose of all your trash in the dumpster located at the entrance to the property. Strip the used beds and leave in a pile on the bed and put all the used towels in the bathtub. Please dispose of all food from the cabinets, fridge and freezer. You are responsible for leaving the cottage in the same condition (with normal usage) as it was found when you arrived. The registered guest will be held responsible for all damages to the cottage and boat dock found during or after departure.
  • What is your minimum night stay?
    MINIMUM NIGHT STAYS: All reservations from October through April require a (2) two-night minimum stay. All reservations for May and September require a (3) three-night minimum stay. All reservations for June, July, and August require a (4) four-night minimum stay. Some exceptions might be available between reservations and on weekdays.   • Where do I park my vehicles and trailer?
    Our Studios and One Bedroom cottages have two parking spots where you can park two vehicles. Near the entrance to the property, there is trailer parking. Our larger cottages have a parking space for your boat trailer at the cottage. If you are staying in one of our 3-bedroom cottages please use this designated trailer parking at your cottage to leave the trailer parking for the smaller cottages. Please be respectful only to use the parking designated for your cottage so that other guests will have access to their parking spots. If you need more than two parking spots and the trailer parking, please let us know so we can try to accommodate you.
  • What onsite amenities do you offer?
    We offer a brand new 14-slip boat dock with a swim platform that is available for our registered guests to use during their stay. We do not have a swimming pool. There is a park-style charcoal grill located outside each cottage and a community picnic table area located by The Serendipity. Our three-bedroom cottages have private fire pits for guests to use. All other cottages have access to the community fire-pit that is located at the corner of Reel Ln and Resort Ln. You will need to bring your own firewood. Every cottage, except the glamping tents, has a washer and dryer for your use during your stay. We share the property with Rod N Reel Pointe, a privately owned community. Our guests WILL NOT have access to their amenities, including their swimming pool, boat dock, laundry facility, and playground area. Please honor their privacy by using the roads and walking paths to and from the boat dock.
  • How do I reserve a boat slip and/or jet ski dock?
    When you make a reservation on our website, you will have the option to add a boat slip for $25 per day and/or a jet ski dock for $15 per day. Please select the number of days you will need the slip/dock during your stay. Boat slip and jet ski dock rentals are only available for registered guests. You can rent one slip per cottage reservation. If you need an additional slip, please email us at, and we will let you know if we can accommodate you. We cannot guarantee that we will have availability.
  • Can I bring a pet?
    Absolutely not. Please do not inquire. We love furry friends, but Rod N Reel is a PET-FREE resort. Pets are not allowed in the rooms or on the grounds. Should a pet be discovered, you will be billed a $400 cleaning and deodorizing fee and you will be asked to immediately vacate the premises without a refund and will not be allowed to book with us again in the future.
  • Do you have WiFi?
    We offer limited WiFi in most cottages! We say limited because this is the lake, and WiFi is not always reliable. We do not guarantee WiFi will be available. Currently the Glamping Tents, The Dellrose, The Stinson and The Belvedere DO NOT have WiFi. Our internet provider has maxed out their capacity for our area. You can see if a specific cottage has WiFi in the descriptions on the Cottages page. WiFi login information will be available in your welcome email.
  • Do your cottages have televisions and cable?
    All our cottages have Smart TVs for you to use your Netflix, Hulu, Disney or Apple TV accounts, but we do not offer cable. The cottages that do not have internet will require the use of a hotspot to operate.
  • How does laundry and housekeeping work?
    When you arrive, your cottage will be freshly-prepared for you by our housekeeping team. Each bed is made with fresh luxury linens from 1888 Mills, and if your unit includes a sleeper sofa, sheets and pillows are provided. King beds have 4 King Pillows; Queen Beds have 4 Queen Pillows, Twin beds have 2 Queen Pillows. We cannot accommodate additional pillows, additional linens, or towels. Towels for each guest are provided. Each cottage, except the glamping tents comes equipped with a washer and dryer for you to wash your towels. We do not provide laundry detergent. We do not replenish items provided during your stay.
  • Where are you located on the lake?
    By water we are two points west of marker 21. We are half way between the Shell Knob Bridge (Hwy 39) and Campbell Point Marina, on the South Shore.
  • What are your policies regarding smoking?
    Smoking/vaping of any kind is not allowed in our cottages (or doorways to cottages) or on our boat dock. Guests electing to ignore our no smoking policy in the rooms will be billed a $400 cleaning and deodorizing fee and you will be asked to immediately vacate the premises without a refund and will not be allowed to book with us again in the future. Please be courteous and put all cigarettes in the trash.
  • How do I change or cancel my reservation?
    If you need to change or cancel your booking, please email us at We will respond within 48 hours to verify your change or cancelation. If the notification is received before the thirty (30) days before your arrival, a refund, minus the 5% processing fee, will be issued. We cannot waive this fee as we have already been charged for processing your reservation. This refund will take 7-10 days to process. All reservations will require advance payment at the time of booking. The advance payment is refundable, minus a 5% processing fee, up to thirty (30) days before your arrival date. Cancellations made within 30 days of your arrival day will not receive a refund or a credit, and you will be responsible for the entire stay. We cannot accept any changes to reservations within 30 days of your arrival day. There will be no refunds, changes, or credits for all reservations not modified or canceled before 30 days of arrival. We are a family-owned twelve cottage resort and our annual revenue is made in a very small summer window. Therefore, we adhere to our cancellation policy and are not able to make exceptions. Please understand this policy so we are able to continue operating our business and providing a beautiful place to stay in Shell Knob.
  • Do you accommodate special requests?
    We are utilizing modern technology to provide self-check-in and self check-out. We have limited staffing to keep our resort private and exclusive. Because of this, we are unable to accommodate special requests. We do not offer rollaway beds, cribs, or pack-n-plays.
  • How are the cottages equipped?
    Kitchenettes include an apartment-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, 15" cooktop with two burners, and microwave. We provide dinnerware, glasses, silverware, coffee mugs, pots & pans, cooking utensils, mixing bowls, can opener, measuring cups, cutting board, colander, hot pad holders, dish towels, grilling utensil, regular coffee maker, and crockpot. Kitchens include an apartment-sized refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, full-size oven, and microwave. We provide dinnerware, glasses, silverware, coffee mugs, pots & pans, cooking utensils, mixing bowls, can opener, measuring cups, baking pan, cutting board, cookie sheet, colander, hot pad holders, dish towels, grilling utensil, regular coffee maker, and crockpot. In all cottages we provide hand soap, dishwashing soap, one roll of paper towels and one dishwasher tablet for each day of your stay but we do not replenish these during your stay. We do not provide coffee and laundry detergent. Each Bathroom includes six bath towels, three hand towels, four washcloths and a bath mat. We do not provide lake towels. Please do not remove the bath towels from the cottage. We will provide an initial stock of toilet paper, hand soap, shampoo, shower gel, and trash bags, but we do not replenish these during your stay.
  • How do I get to your property?
    Our address is 23681 FR 1255, Shell Knob, MIssouri 65747 Here is our Google Maps Link. Directions from the North: From the Shell Knob Bridge on Highway 39, go a short 2.9 miles. On your left you will see the Rod N Reel Resort Billboard and accross the street the Holy Family Catholic Church. This is your turn, FR 1255. Turn left and follow the road 1/2 mile to our location. We are on FR 1255 just past Kansas Street on the right and Bear Ridge Lane on the left. Our entrance will be clearly marked on your left. Directions from the South: 1.3 Miles from Viola on Highway 39 on your right you will see the the Holy Family Catholic Church and the Rod N Reel Resort Billboard. This is your turn, FR 1255. Turn right and follow the road 1/2 mile to our location. We are on FR 1255 just past Kansas Street on the right and Bear Ridge Lane. You will turn left onto Reel Lane.
  • Where is the closest boat launch?
    We do not have a boat launch on our property. The closest public boat launch is at the south side of the Shell Knob Bridge, which is located 2.9 miles from our resort. If you are launching for the day, you can leave your car and boat trailer there, or if you are renting a slip from our resort, there is parking on our property for your boat trailer. From the boat launch by water, we are two points west of marker 21. We are halfway between the Shell Knob Bridge and Campbell Point Marina on the South Shore.
  • Where is the closest Marina for fuel or boat rental?
    We do not offer boat rentals. The closest Marina by water is Campbell Point Marina (417) 858-6331. It is 8 miles by land and a very short boat ride away. The nearest Marina by land is Kings River Marina (417) 858-6429. It is 3.6 miles by land but a long boat ride by water. Both Marina's have fuel and boat rental. Please refer to our LOCAL page to find other Marinas and Rental places for jet-skis, paddle boards, and kayaks.
  • Where is the closest medical facility?
    Of course, if you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911. Your cottage's address is listed in your welcome email and is also on the address plate on your cottage. The street for your cottage is either Reel Ln or FR1255. The main address for Rod N Reel Resort is 23681 FR 1255 Shell Knob, Missouri 65747. If you need non-life-threatening medical care, you have two options, both of which are open 24-hours. The first is Mercy Hospital Cassville, located at 94 Main St, Cassville, MO 65625. (22 miles approximately 33-minute drive) Their phone number is (417) 847-6000. The second is Mercy Hospital Berryville, located at 214 Carter St, Berryville, AR 72616. (18 miles approximately 29-minute drive) Their phone number is (870) 423-3355.
  • How far are you located from other nearby towns and attractions?
    See our LOCAL page for Shell Knob dining and attractions. We are 17.4 miles from Berryville, Arkansas, where you will find one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, La Cabana, and the closest Walmart. We are 18.5 miles from Lampe, Missouri, whose top attractions are Dogwood Canyon and Persimmon Hill Farm. We are 21.8 miles from Cassville, Missouri, the governmental hub of Barry County and home to the Barry County Museum. We are 24.7 miles from Kimberling City, Missouri. We are 27.1 miles from Eureka Springs, Arkansas, which includes main attractions like the Thorncrown Chapel, Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, The Christ of the Ozarks Statue, and the historical Downtown Shopping area. We are 39.4 miles from Branson, Missouri, where you will have your choice of shopping, dining, and entertainment. Be sure to check out our go-to place for BBQ, Gettin' Basted.
